Alberto and Loly are both in ministry in Puerto Penasco, Mexico serving our missionary friends, Pastor Stan and Becky Tedrow, at Penasco Christian Fellowship. Loly works for the church and leads the PCF youth ministry while Alberto works for Young Life Mexico, also working with the city's youth.
Here are the latest picture after your gifts were received through Christmas:
We hear from the missionaries that they are fast approaching move-in condition now! We were able to send another little chunk to them recently,so, Glory to God! We will have more pictures as soon as things progress.
At the right are our dear missionary friends, Pastor Stan and Becky Tedrow, (missionheartbeat.org), of the Penasco Christian Fellowship. Former pastors for years in the U.S., they have committed their lives as full-time missionary leaders to the people of Mexico since 1999. In addition to their oversight of the local bi-lingual congregation, Pastor Stan is anointed to unite the Body beyond borders. His love, wisdom, and message of peace have played an integral role in unifying pastors and the Body across many miles of the Mexican desert, bringing together churches and teams from all walks and nationalities, for His purpose. His leadership is serving to elevate the level of excellence operating in the five-fold ministry gifts in the entire region.
Pastor Stan tells us that Alberto and Loly and girls have sown and continue to sow precious seed. They have proven to be submitted to leadership and faithful to God over many years and trials. We understand that the project requires approximately $5,000.US to be completed, and the sooner the better! We are standing with them to see this faith project come into sight and we are asking you to check your heart about doing the same.
At the present, they live with her mother and brother in a very small house. As you can imagine, it is not a good arrangement. Loly's father left the lot to her and she and Alberto have done the construction shown in the picture below. They are off to a faithful start but it is our feeling that they should be freed up to do the work of the ministries they serve and come home to a peaceful home of their own much sooner than they can provide by their own natural means. They are both bi-lingual and are a tremendous asset to the work of the Lord in the region.
It is our dream to help them complete their own home. Because it is block-construction, the project doesn't lend itself well to a team coming in to do the construction. But, we believe that our partners, many of whom are believing God for houses, buildings, and lands of their own, may see this as a wonderful field to sow their seed into. We certainly do!
Puerto Penasco, Mexico is about 4 hours south of Phoenix, Arizona. The city is an ideal gateway for US mission teams offering a convenient entry location to Mexico, in-city opportunities for serving, easy access to more rural areas farther south in Mexico for more rugged mission experiences, as well as a resort side and beaches for teams who desire a few hours of playtime. Birth certificates and passports are now required. There is an airport for private air traffic, however, most teams arrive in Phoenix or Tucson and rent vans for transportation to and around Puerto Penasco.
The partners of Hands for the Harvest make it possible for us to maintain a guest house in Penasco which is used by the missionaries to host other ministers for prayer retreats and advance scouting. The guest house is not large enough to house entire teams, but there are wide ranges of hotels and facilities which can.
It has been 9 years now since our hearts fell in love with our city and our friends in Puerto Penasco. It is a wonderful place to get face to face with God. We urge you to prayerfully consider sowing and going. No matter where you have or have not been before, you will never be the same.
PS. Did we mention that (as you stroll under palm trees and feel the ocean wind and hear the waves crashing below you) there are the most beautiful sunsets on the planet to be seen from the Malecon? Breathtaking, the sun gives an awesome display of God's grand design as it disappears behind the Baja horizon on the other side of the Sea of Cortez.
